Why
VoIP?
VoIP
has introduced vast cost savings,
it has also introduced unprecendented
opportunities in the telephony marketplace.
The time has come for telco’s to make
the leap into the burgeoning VoIP
marketplace.
More
and more next generation telco’s are
emerging every day, taking advantage
of the already existing global internet
infrastructure, deregulation and the
cost differences between traditional
long distance and VoIP to offer less
expensive phone services.
They
are also offering enhanced services,
which allow them to differentiate
themselves from their competition.
Over
the past few years there has been
incredible growth of next-gen telco’s
which is a testament to the maturity
of VoIP technology. A majority of
Voice and Fax traffic has moved from
circuit switched networks to the internet.
Voice quality between a circuit switched
call and an internet based call is
now indistinguishable – Many Tier
One carriers are passing Voice over
the Internet without even realising
it!
Also
due to the flexibility of IP, VoIP
Networks are also less costly to build
than traditional circuit switched
networks as the statement below conveys:
“After
extensive studies, Probe Research proved incontrovertibly
that even under the most rigorous qualityof service
parameters, a service provider that plans to deliver
both voice and data services can do so more cheaply
with a single converged voic eover packet network than
with the traditional separate circuit switched network
approach,” said Hilary Mine, Executive Vice President
of Probe Research.
Also
by utilising open, standards-based IP Telephony technology,
third party application developers are developing new
enhanced service offerings faster than ever which include
