Consultant/VoIP Systems Engineer
The
role of the Systems Consultant/VoIP Systems Engineer
is for a specialised technical person working within
a dedicated team comprising other Systems Consultants/Engineers;
Sales and Account Management Staff; as well as Administrative
Support Personnel. The person will have extensive
experience of working within a Telco/Networking environment.
Therefore, although emphasis is placed on the individual's
technical abilities and experience, it is very important
that the person in this role is a team player with
strong interpersonal skills.DutiesThe duties include:

Setting
up Customer/Provider account details on VoIP equipment
-
Interpretation
and application of VoIP Rate Tables
-
Network
testing
-
Network
monitoring
-
Network
trouble-shooting
-
Liaising
with customers and suppliers at testing and post-implementation
stages
ExperienceThe
person in this role should have the following experience:
-
A
minimum of four years experience using Cisco Gateway
equipment
-
Ideally
(but not essential), some experience with other
VoIP Gateway equipment
-
A
familiarity with Gatekeeping technology
-
Ideally
(but not essential), a qualification to CCNP level
-
Some
expertise in signalling knowledge (such as H323,
Q931, SS7)
-
Experience
in routing protocol knowledge (such as RIP, OSPF,
BGP, HSPR, IGRP)
-
A
proficiency in advanced network services to include
Cisco Firewalls and VPN
-
A
competency with LAN & WAN and other network
management systems (including wireless networks)
-
Experience
of Microsoft systems
-
Experience
of Linux
-
Experience
of Telco billing systems
Qualities
The person in this role should be able to demonstrate
the following qualities:

Previously
worked in the Telco/Networking environment
-
Previously
held a networking trouble-shooting role
-
Has
an ability to liaise with customers at post-implementation
& testing stages
-
Is
a strong-minded individual able to work accurately
under pressure
-
Has
a willingness to work outside standard hours
-
Has
an ability to liaise on 'trouble tickets' with suppliers
-
Someone
with good customer-facing skills and able to support
the Sales Team in order to satisfy customer requirements
Future:
Future requirements may include the need to devise,
recommend and install a new network monitoring system.
